ETERNAL NIGHT REVIEWS

Wyndriver Sinner is the first in the WesternWind Series, and I can honestly say Charlotte Boyett-Compo has another winning series here. Set in post apocalyptic Earth, the Reapers have been sent as the executioners of rogue reapers as well as protectors of the fragile remaining human populace who are struggling to rebuild a devastated civilization roughly at the wild west stage of previous development.

Leaving town, after dispensing his latest assignment, Cynyr Cree hears a muffled scream and the sounds of physical violence, he investigates to find a woman being attacked. Even in the aftermath of the attack and subsequent death of her attacker the woman displays no overt fear of the Reaper himself, even though others turn and run from him. When Aingeal approaches his campsite later that night in search of food, dirty, weak and starving, Cynyr is amazed that she is not afraid of him and after learning of her traumatic and abusive past, vows to protect her from the Jakotai brave her ex husband had sold her too.

Aingeal's acceptance of Cynyr's Reaper nature and her refusal to allow him to see himself as anything other than the decent honourable man he is, melts Cynyr's heart and though he knows there are a multitude of reasons he should not claim Aingeal, he finds himself unable to resist claiming her as his mate, a lifetime proposition for a Reaper. With Aingeal's sweet nature comes a backbone of steal, and her tenderness tempers Cynyr's lonely existence and both find the soul mate neither thought to ever find.

Life and duty find them on the road to Cynyr's next assignment they follow in the wake of a devastating tornado. When Cynyr offers to help the devastated townsfolk, he is totally surprised by their acceptance and even affection the town displays after Aingeal becomes very ill. Cynyr has never before been in a position where people didn't either abuse him or fear him, and he is bemused by the tender feelings Aingeal seems to promote simply by being around, never realizing that it is not simply Aingeal's nature but his own decency that is promoting the changes.

Taking to the road once more to find and destroy another rogue, Aingeal is bitten by a poisonous snake, with her life ebbing swiftly Cynyr must make a decision that is against Council law, even more so than taking a mate without permission. Now, Cynyr must face the Council and pray they accept his reasoning.

I really don't know how she manages to do it, but every Charlotte Boyett-Compo title I read elevates itself to my favorites pile and Wyndriver Sinner is absolutely no different. Charlotte is a completely magical with her insights into the human psyche. She has the capacity to write a story with innate sensuality and deep and abiding love between intriguing characters in interesting circumstances and still maintain a strong, intense storyline with continuing characters and interlinking worlds.

JUST EROTIC ROMANCE REVIEWS

I really enjoyed this well-written story. The beginning was exciting and had me on the edge of my seat. The poetic writing style with its rich descriptiveness was intoxicating. I had no problem picturing Cynyr Cree as a tall, bulky, and very luscious tough-guy type. I especially enjoyed reading this story primarily from his point of view. His ability to be tough and tender at the same time correlated well with his character history and background. I found some of his abilities overtly convenient, but forgivable. Relentless, and instantly attracted to Cynyr, no one could possibly disagree with Aingeal. Her ability to trust him so easily was implausible given her history with men, but it seemed to work well regardless. The brief, but wonderfully illustrative sex between them allowed me to easily visualize each sensual movement as it happened. They both displayed a strong sense of freedom and abandonment. The sex scenes unfolded with Cynyr and Aingeal’s uninhibited lust that complimented their desire for one another. The plot of WyndRiver Sinner was never dull and full of endearing and dangerous characters. I highly recommend this enthralling story.

FALLEN ANGEL REVIEWS

Charlotte Boyett-Compo’s Reapers are the very best. Normally I would never use words like compassionate, loving, and tender in the same sentence as a Reaper, but once they have found their mates, there is a light to their darkness. In WyndRiver Sinner, Cynyr Cree is essentially a gunslinger. He goes from town to town, dispensing justice on the rogues. What starts out as saving a woman from being attacked quickly becomes so much more. Already commanding and lethal, Ms. Boyett-Compo’s Reapers are forces to be reckoned with. However, Aingeal is not at all compliant. Until now, she’s been doing whatever needs to be done to survive. Something in Cynyr calls to her, and it goes deeper than simple lust and desire. Cynyr’s possessiveness of Aingeal is so sexy and Aingeal’s desire to heal Cynyr’s past wounds is so sweet. I’ve always known Charlotte Boyett-Compo to write with enthralling emotions. She pulls at your heartstrings and the reading experience is so much better because of her ability to do so. Her words are so precise, so distinct that its like readers are right there in the book. It’s no secret that Charlotte Boyett-Compo is one of my favorite authors, but even so, I’m continually amazed at what an incredible author she is. I can’t wait for the next in this series, entitled Reaper’s Revenge.

COFFEE TIME REVIEWS

In the midst of the travails they face to keep their newfound happiness, the author creates two of her most endearing characters to date. Cynyr’s quiet vulnerability and Aingeal’s ability to love him regardless is incredibly touching. This author is well known for taking readers on a powerful emotional roller coaster ride along with her characters in her stories, but this one is softer, more subtle yet so very heartwarming. I am simply going to say "get this story". You will not be disappointed.

EROTIC ESCAPADES

5 -- Tattoos- One of the best stories the reviewer has read in ages. So hot it might just set off the fire alarm.

Cynyr and Aingeal need each other and the story shows how each fills a void for and within the other beyond the physical. However, the sex between the two is hot and I frequently melted as if I was Aingeal. The best part of the sex scenes (beyond the obvious) was how each scene moved the story and their relationship forward. The secondary characters in this story are well developed – we all know the gouging Hotel Keeper, or the grumpy, sanctimonious priest – and they create a world worth visiting over and over.

This is the first story in a new series for Ms. Boyett-Compo and I loved it. It is also the first book I have read by Charlotte Boyett-Compo and I cannot wait for the next one in this series while I whet my appetite for more with her other stories.

Stories like WyndRiver Sinner are the reason I read erotic romance. With this story, I got to leave my everyday world, meet a hunky alpha hero, laugh, cry and sigh happily and all for less than the cost of a movie ticket.

eCATAROMANCE REVIEWS

Western Wind 1: WyndRiver Sinner by Charlotte Boyett-Compo is the wild west meets Star Trek with a little blood sucking thrown in for flavor; all combined to create one explosively good read! I am just buzzing with the warm happy waves of joy that Ms. Boyett-Compo's offering has given me. Aingeal is a compassionate woman with a tough core and deep understanding. Cynyr is aloof sexiness on the hoof with lots of angst and "hug-him-until-it-is-all-better" appeal. The supporting cast is perfectly blended into the story to provide support and motivation for the main characters. This one flows along so smoothly that it is difficult to notice the passing of time as you become immersed in its pages. Ah, the love scenes, they are molten enough that I recommend surrounding yourself in ice to prevent spontaneous combustion and having a dry pair of panties handy. Ms. Boyett-Compo has created a world that I want to spend hours exploring. I truly hope to see many sequels with all the delicious Reapers getting entangled in love. Thank you, Ms. Boyett-Compo, for creating such a wonderful place to visit!

A ROMANCE REVIEW

Charlotte Boyett-Compo has done it again. She has created another Reaper story that is bound to satiate the most voracious appetite. Cynyr and Aingeal live in a very hard and brutal future; death is the way of life and forever is only a fairy tale. Ms. Boyett-Compo writes a story that is both brutally seductive and thrillingly dangerous. This is definite must read in her acclaimed Reaper series. I can’t wait for the next installment.

LOVE ROMANCE REVIEWS

WYNDRIVER SINNER by Ms. Boyett-Compo is an entirely new kind of Reaper story. In a way it reminds this reviewer of Firefly in that it is set in the west complete with gunslingers, saloons and of course saloon girls. This west is what has occurred on Earth after a war and a few natural disasters. The Reapers have been brought to earth by their Goddess to clean up the rogues that are running about killing and maiming the humans. This reviewer has to admit that she never would have thought about Reapers in this setting; however Ms. Boyett-Compo manages to pull this story off with her usual style and grace. The characters are wonderfully real, especially Cyn and Aingeal. It is almost impossible not to chuckle at Cyn's shock when the townsfolk accept him due in part to Aingeal’s influence on him. Aingeal has survived rough times before meeting Cyn. Rather then souring her however she instead shines like a diamond.

This reviewer highly recommends WYNDRIVER SINNER to any reader that enjoys westerns, paranormal romances and lovers of the reapers. The Western Winds series is one this reviewer will be keeping her eye out for.

THE ROMANCE STUDIO

WyndRiver Sinner is wildly romantic and entertaining! Subtle, heartwarming, a touching emotional journey, engaging story, great world building, and depth of characters…all these phrases came to mind when describing this story. Cynyr Cree is a tough, forbidding hero with a heart of gold. Aingeal is a strong woman who has survived in a brutal world. She falls hard and fast for Cynyr who she instinctively trusts. She can see past his tough exterior. Sex between them is highly sensual and cements their deep awareness and love for each other. Like classic westerns it takes a town full of grateful people and the love a good woman to show Cynyr that he is a good man. Although the theme is classic, Ms Boyett-Compo brings fresh perspective with details of this futuristic landscape. The pace moves fluidly with one riveting adventure after another. I look forward to reading more of the Reapers series. WyndRiver Sinner is a memorable keeper!

ENCHANTED RAMBLINGS

This story is set in a future time, but one which Planet Earth has been thrown back into a living system similar to the 1800’s. We learn who and what Reapers are and why they are here on the planet to help us. It is first in the WesternWinds series, and does a good job of setting history up.

I enjoyed the way Cynyr grew and changed throughout the book, learning to accept true feelings and someone else in his life. I felt Aingeal was a bit static, not as fleshed out as Cynyr, but she was a good counter to him. Ms. Boyett-Compo’s style was slightly different in this book than others I have read, and I have to say I enjoyed that tremendously. I will be looking for the next one in the series as it continues Cynry’s and Aingeal’s story.

CK2S KWIPS & KRITIQUES

Charlotte Boyett-Compo’s innovative world is exceptionally well done. One can actually visualize this futuristic western world. The sights and sounds of the saloons and the isolated towns come to life in the hands of this talented writer. The explanation for the regression of the world is entirely plausible while the addition of the Reapers and the rogues makes for a fascinating tale.

The characters are fully developed. Cynyr’s love for Aingeal tames the demon beast that lurks within every Reaper and makes him very likeable despite his gruff appearance. Aingeal’s dedication to Cynyr is quite touching and the romance between them is both sweet and spicy.

ROGUES AND ROMANCE REVIEWS

Heat Rating: *4 Cupid's Aphrodisiac Arrows*

Charlotte Boyett-Compo has written a thrilling futuristic paranormal in a western setting, and yee-haw, it is a perfect union! The unforgiving, harsh landscape in WyndRiver Sinner makes the perfect background for a fabulous, original story. You don’t have to have read the author’s previous Reaper stories to enjoy this one, because new readers will be introduced to everything Reaper: what they are, how they are made, and what it entails. But that doesn’t mean fans of the stories will be bored! Boyett-Compo writes in such a way that the explainations are a natural part of the story, and don’t seem like explanations in the least. You will love this story of haunting pasts, and the healing that unconditional love brings. WyndRiver Sinner opens up the Western Wind Series with a bang. Or should I say crack, of the Reaper’s whip…

PARANORMAL ROMANCE REVIEWS

WYNDRIVER SINNER is an intriguing mixture of vampires and the Old West. Charlotte Boyett-Compo once again brings her Reapers to vivid life in a totally unexpected setting. This story has a bit of everything from danger to love. But under it all, it is a story of acceptance for Cynyr and how Aingeal not only loves him, but creates a life for him. As with all of Charlotte Boyett-Compo's stories, this is one you don't want to miss.
