LYRICS FROM THE WIND

I am a Gemini, one of the Air Signs. The Wind has always intrigued me. It soothes; it comforts; it cleans the land, raking its teeth across the ground and pushing away debris. Its song lulls me to sleep, plucking cool fingers in the chimes hanging on my porch. The Wind is a blessing to me and that is why the titles of my published novels have the word 'wind' in each of them.

***The Wayward Wind: Patsy Cline***
Oh, the wayward wind is a restless wind
A restless wind that yearns to wander
And I was born the next of kin
The next of kin to the wayward wind
In a lonely shack by a railroad track
I spent my younger days
And I guess the sound of the outward bound
Made me a slave to my wand'ring ways
And the wayward wind is a restless wind
A restless wind that yearns to wander
And I was born the next of kin
The next of kin to the wayward wind
Oh I met a girl in a border town
I vowed we'd never part
Tho' I tried my best to settle down
She's now alone with a broken heart
And the wayward wind is a restless wind
A restless wind that yearns to wander
And I was born the next of kin
The next of kin to the wayward wind
The next of kin to the wayward wind

***They Call the Wind Mariah: Gogi Grant***
Way out here they have a name
For wind and rain and fire
The rain is Tess, the fire's Joe,
And they call the wind Mariah
Mariah blows the stars around,
Sets the clouds a'flyin'
Mariah makes the mountain sound
Like folks was up there dyin'
Mariah, Mariah
They call the wind Mariah.
Before I knew Mariah's name
And heard her wail and whinin'
I had a gal and she had me
And the sun was always shinin'
Then one day I left my gal,
I left her far behind me
And now I'm lost,
So gol-durned lost
Not even God can find me
Mariah, Mariah
They call the wind Mariah.
Out here they have a name
For rain wind and fire only
When you're lost and all alone
There ain't no name for lonely
I'm a lost and lonely man
Without a star to guide me
Mariah, blow my love to me,
I need my gal beside me
Mariah, Mariah
They call the wind Mariah.
Mariah, Mariah
They call the wind Mariah.

***The Wind Cries Mary: Jimi Hendrix***
After all the jacks are in their boxes
And the clowns have all gone to bed
You can hear happiness staggering on down the street
Footprints dressed in red
And the wind whispers Mary
A broom is drearily sweeping
Up the broken pieces of yesterday's life
Somewhere a queen is weeping
Somewhere a king has no wife
And the wind cries Mary
The traffic lights turn blue tomorrow
And shine the emptiness down on my bed
The tiny island sags downstream
'Cause the life that they lived is dead
And the wind screams Mary
Will the wind ever remember
The names it has blown in the past
With its crutch, its old age, and its wisdom
It whispers, "No this will be the last"
And the wind cries Mary

***The Colors of the Wind: Vanessa Williams***
You think you own whatever land you land on
The earth is just a dead thing you can claim
But I know ev'ry rock and tree and creature
Has a life, has a spirit, has a name
You think the only people who are people
Are the people who look and think like you
But if you walk the footsteps of a stranger
You'll learn things you never knew you never knew
Have you ever heard the wolf cry to the blue corn moon
Or asked the grinning bobcat why he grinned ?
Can you sing with all the voices of the mountain ?
Can you paint with all the colors of the wind ?
Can you paint with all the colors of the wind ?
Come run the hidden pine trails of the forest
Come taste the sun-sweet berries of the earth
Come roll in all the riches all around you
And for once, never wonder what they're worth
The rainstorm and the river are my brothers
The heron and the otter are my friends
And we are all connected to each other
In a circle, in a hoop that never ends
Have you ever heard the wolf cry to the blue corn moon
Or let the eagle tell you where he's been. ****
Can you sing with all the voices of the mountain ?
Can you paint with all the colors of the wind ?
Can you paint with all the colors of the wind ?
How high does the sycamore grow ?
If you cut it down, then you'll never know
And you'll never hear the wolf cry to the blue corn moon
For whether we are white or copper-skinned
We need to sing with all the voices of the mountain
Need to paint with all the colors of the wind
You can own the earth and still
All you'll own is earth until
You can paint with all colors of the wind

***When the Wind Was Green: Frank Sinatra***
When the wind was green
At the start of the spring
When the wind was green
Like a living thing
It was on my lips
And it's kiss was fair
You were there
When the wind was red
Like a summer wine
When the wind was red
Like your lips on mine
It caressed my fate
And it tossed my hair
You were there
Then came the fall and all of love
Came tumbling, stumbling down
Like leaves that lost to frost and found
They were flying-crying
In a brown wind dying
But the winter's come and we both should know
That the wind is white like the swirling snow
And we'll never see all the wonderful things to be seen
When the wind is green

***The Wind Rides on Winds: Japenese Theme of Maps***
You are to come across, the thousand one unlimited skys
You can hear the heart-beat of the new journey, like the rumbling of the sea
Even though it's far away
Even though you'll be wounded deep in your heart
The wind rides on wings
The Light, it calls the battle to the sky
The Wings already understand, breaking down the darkness
The wind rides on wings
The stars and the galaxy are moving
Wings ride on the wind
Awakening from the deepest sleep
Far away, the wind goes far away
-End Theme-
Falling hope and strange, Angel, who carry on the far past era
I decided on that day, to take back the smile which was closed.
All of the world, yes, that's all, I'm sure I can do it.
It's in my empty arms.
The wind rides on wings
The Light, it calls the battle to the sky
The Wings already understand, breaking down the darkness
The wind rides on wings
The stars and the galaxy are moving
Wings ride on the wind
Awakening from the deepest sleep

***Highway in the Wind: Arlo Guthrie***
Sail with me into the unknown void
That has no end
Swept along the open road
That don't seem to begin
Come with me a love me, Babe
I may be back again
Meantime I'll keep sailing down
This highway in the wind
Evenings just begin the days
And follows with the night
To love you and to be with you
And say that it's all right
Love me while you have me, Babe
I may be back again
Meantime I'll keep sailing down
This highway in the wind
There's times I feel like going
And there's times I want to stay
Times that I ain't feeling well
And times I feel ok
Now you have time to love me, Babe
And I may have time agian
Meantime I'll keep sailing down
This highway in the wind
The fortune teller tells me
I have somewhere to go
I look and try to understand
And wonder how she knows
So I must be going now
I'm losing time my friend
Looking for a rainbow
Down this highway in the wind

***The Wind: Cat Stevens***
I listen to the wind, to the wind of my soul
Where I end up, well, I think only God really knows
I swam across the setting sun, but never, never, never, never
I never wanted water once, no never, never, never
I listen to my words, but they fall far below
I let my music take me where my heart wants to go
I swam across the devil's lake, but never, never, never, never
I'll never make the same mistake, no never, never, never
Hear me now, that's me now
Hear me now, watch me
Hear me now, that's me now
Hear me now, watch me
What me say now, tell me to the wind
Turn on down the corner, get my butt movin'
Open your heart to the invitation
And it's like this, how we begun
I listen to the wind, to the wind of my soul
Where I end up, well, I think only God really knows
I swam across the devil's lake, but never, never, never, never
I'll never make the same mistake, no never, never, never
One time, tell me now
Just how we begin
Tell me now, back and back out in the wind
It's like this, that's how we begin
It's like that now, back up in the wind
It's like this, that's how we begin
It's like that now, back up in the wind
It's like this, that's how we begin
Tell me now, back and back out in the wind
Listen to it
Listen to the wind
Listen to it
Listen to the wind

***Devil Wind: Bob Welch***
Well hello little girl, welcome to this big town
I´ve been patiently waiting, let me show you around
Did you bring lots of money, do you have nerves of steel
And are you ready to gamble, put your heart on the wheel
Oh oh, the devil wind
Big town claims another win
Is this how it all begins
How the innocents have changed
Oh oh, the devil wind
Breaks another young heart again
So this is how it always ends
How the innocents have changed
I was born in this city, I destroyed my old man
But he came to this city from an innocent land
Now I should know better, I´d be a fool if I got hurt
But you do what you have to, let me be the first
Repeat chorus
After the devil wind stops blowin´
Wake up and find your heart´s been broken

***Night Wind Sent: Blondie***
Your music by the night wind sent
Awakes my quiet instrument
In the silence of your steps
I can see into the depths
Messenger of sympathies
My heart beats loud in ecstasy
When your shadow falls on me
A silhouette reality
And I chase every night after you
And I chase after you
Of all your loaded mysteries
The colour of your sympathies
My words cannot express your awful loveliness
So come with me through smoke and mirrors
We'll bring our differences nearer
We'll float upon an inland sea
Embody visions of a dream
And I chase every night after you
I got a chill and the night wind sent
Me a chill
And the night wind sent
Me a chill
You wander through my sleeping mind
Reading thoughts I've left behind
I always know when you've been there
Tangles of perfume fill my hair
Your music by the night wind sent
Awakes my quiet instrument
In the silence of your steps
I can see into the depths

***Easy Wind: Robert Hunter***
I been balling a shiny black steel jack-hammer,
Been chippin' up rocks for the great highway,
I'll live five years if I take my time,
Ballin' that jack and a drinkin' my wine.
I been chippin' them rocks from dawn till doom,
While my rider hide my bottle in the other room.
Doctor say better stop ballin' that jack,
If I live five years I gonna bust my back, yes I will.
Easy wind cross the Bayou today
Cause there's a whole lotta women, mama,
Out in red on the streets today.
And the river keeps a talkin',
But you never heard a word it said.
Gotta find a woman be good to me,
Won't hide my liquor try to serve me tea,
Cause I'm a stone jack baller and my heart is true
And I'll give everything that I got to you, yes I will.
Easy wind cross the Bayou today
Cause there's a whole lotta women, mama,
Out in red on the streets today.
And the river keeps a talkin',
But you never heard a word it said.

***Wind Beneath My Wings: Bette Midler***
It must have been cold there in my shadow
To never have sunlight on your face
You were content to let me shine, that's your way
You always walked a step behind
So I was the one with all the glory
While you were the one with all the strength.
A beautiful face without a name, for so long
A beautiful smile to hide the pain
Did you ever know that you're my hero
And everything I would like to be
If I can fly higher than an eagle
You are the wind beneath my wings
It might have appeared to go unnoticed
but I've got it all here in my heart
I want you to know I know the truth
Of course I know it
I would be nothing with out you
Fly, fly, fly away
You let me fly so high
Oh, fly, fly
So high against the sky
So high I almost touch the sky
Thank you, thank you, thank God for you
The wind beneath my wings

***Blowin' in the Wind: Bob Dylan***
How many roads must a man walk down
Before you call him a man?
Yes, 'n' how many seas must a white dove sail
Before she sleeps in the sand?
Yes, 'n' how many times must the cannon balls fly
Before they're forever banned?
The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind,
The answer is blowin' in the wind.
How many times must a man look up
Before he can see the sky?
Yes, 'n' how many ears must one man have
Before he can hear people cry?
Yes, 'n' how many deaths will it take till he knows
That too many people have died?
The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind,
The answer is blowin' in the wind.
How many years can a mountain exist
Before it's washed to the sea?
Yes, 'n' how many years can some people exist
Before they're allowed to be free?
Yes, 'n' how many times can a man turn his head
Pretending he just doesn't see?
The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind,
The answer is blowin' in the wind.

***Candle in the Wind: Elton John***
Goodbye Norma Jean
Though I never knew you at all
You had the grace to hold yourself
While those around you crawled
They crawled out of the woodwork
And they whispered into your brain
They set you on the treadmill
And they made you change your name
And it seems to me you lived your life
Like a candle in the wind
Never knowing who to cling to
When the rain set in
And I would have liked to have known you
But I was just a kid
Your candle burned out long before
Your legend ever did
Loneliness was tough
The toughest role you ever played
Hollywood created a superstar
And pain was the price you paid
Even when you died
Oh the press still hounded you
All the papers had to say
Was that Marilyn was found in the nude
Goodbye Norma Jean
From the young man in the 22nd row
Who sees you as something as more than sexual
More than just our Marilyn Monroe
***Candle in the Wind 1997: Elton John***
Goodbye England's Rose
May you ever grow in our hearts
You were the grace that placed itself
Where lives were torn apart
You called out to our country
And you whispered to those in pain
Now you belong to heaven
And the stars spell out your name
And it seems to me you lived your life
Like a candle in the wind
Never fading with the sunset
When the rain set in
And your footsteps will always fall here
Along England's greenest hills
Your candle burned out long before
Your legend ever will
Loveliness we've lost
Those empty days without your smile
This torch we'll always carry
For a nation's golden child
And even though we try
The truth brings us to tears
All our words cannot express
The joy you brought us through the years
Goodbye England's Rose
From a country lost without your soul
Who'll miss the wings of your compassion
More than you will ever know

***Summer Wind: Frank Sinatra***
The summer wind, came blowin' in - from across the sea
It lingered there, so warm and fair - to walk with me
All summer long, we sang a song - and strolled on golden sand
Two sweethearts, and the summer wind
Like painted kites, those days and nights - went flyin' by
The world was new, beneath a blue - umbrella sky
Then softer than, a piper man - one day it called to you
And I lost you, to the summer wind
The autumn wind, and the winter wind - have come and gone
And still the days, those lonely days - go on and on
And guess who sighs his lullabies - through nights that never end
My fickle friend, the summer wind

***Northern Wind: Cat Stevens***
There is a wind, my Billy, and it's awful strong
Come for you, and anyone who's helped you along.
But I want to live, live, live and let the stars shine bright
yes, I want to live, live, live and let it on alright
And when that bird sings from over that silver wall
I don't want to fight it, Billy, 'cause i want to go
There's a Northern wind, Billy, blowin' up a southern change
and a Northern wind really makin' me feel kinda strange
there's a Northern wind, Billy, blowin' up a southern change
and a Northern wind really makin' me feel kinda strange
And with this gun goes everything I want to say
Not for you, but for anyone who takes it away
Let it fill his life, life, life until there's nothing left
Let it kill his wife, wife, wife until he goes to bed
And when that bird sings from over that silver wall
I don't want to fight it, Billy, 'cause I want to go
There's a Northern wind, Billy, blowin' up a southern change
and a Northern wind really makin' me feel kinda strange
there's a Northern wind, Billy, blowin' up a southern change
and a Northern wind really makin' me feel kinda strange

***Dust in the Wind: Kansas***
I close my eyes
only for a moment
and the moments gone
all my dreams
pass before my eyes a curiosity
dust in the wind
all we are dust in the wind
Some old song
just a drop of water
in the endless see
all we do
crumbles to the ground
though we refuse to see
dust in the wind
Now, don´t hang on
nothing last forever
but the earth and sky
it lips away
And all my money
won`t another minute buy
Dust in the wind
all we are dust in the wind
dust in the wind
dust in the wind

***Whistle Down the Wind***
Whistle down the wind, let your voices carry
Drown out all the rain, light a patch of darkness, treacherous and scary
Howl at the stars, whisper when your sleeping
I'll be there to hold you, I'll be there to stop, the chills and all the weeping
Make it clear and strong, so the whole night long
Every signal that you send, until the very end
I will not abandon, you my precious friend
So try and stem the tide, then you'll raise a banner
Send a flare up in the sky, try to burn a torch, and try to build a bonfire
Every signal that you send, until the very end I'm there
So whistle down the wind, for I have always been right there, oh yeah
Howl at the stars, whisper when your sleeping
I'll be there to hold you, I'll be there to stop, the chills and all the weeping
Make it clear and strong, so the whole night long
Every signal that you send, until the very end
I will not abandon, you my precious friend
Try and stem the tide, then you'll raise a banner
Send a flare up in the sky, try to burn a torch, and try to build a bonfire
Every signal that you send, until the very end I'm there
So whistle down the wind, for I have always been right there (ooh ooh yeah)

***Heels of the Wind: Elton John***
Just like a broken marriage, when two people just don't care
Like when the cupboard is empty or there's no food in the Frigidaire
I'm a page from the end of the story
No closer to my hope and glory
Just a kick away from the heels of the wind
How come it gets so disturbing, when two ships pass in the storm
Who knows how high the crow flies, who knows where this refugee was born
I'm a page from the end of the story
No closer to my hope and glory
Just a kick away from the heels of the wind
And just for the sake of all these reasons
Rains wash out the fires within
Fires that help to keep you moving
Just a kick away from the heels of the wind
You don't deserve that treatment, I can't pretend I was that nice
I'm no E ticket ride to Disneyland, I'm no cushy first class flight
I'm a day behind your restless wings
You, you rather have the wealth of kings
Me, I'd rather be on the heels of the wind

***Ride Like the Wind: Christopher Cross***
It is the night
My body's weak
I'm on the run
No time for sleep
I've got to ride
Ride like the wind
To be free again
I was born the son
Of a lawless man
Always spoke my mind
With a gun in my hand
Lived nine lives
Gunned down ten
Gonna ride like the wind
And I've got such a long way to go
To make it to the border of Mexico
So I'll ride like the wind
Ride like the wind
Accused and tried and
Told to hang
I was nowhere in sight
When the church bells rang
Never was the kind
To do as I was told
Gonna ride like the wind
Before I get old
And I've got such a long way to go
To make it to the border of Mexico
So I'll ride like the wind
Ride like the wind
So I'll ride like the wind
Ride like the wind
It is the night
My body's weak
I'm on the run
No time for sleep
I've got to ride
Ride like the wind
To be free again
And I've got such a long way to go
To make it to the border of Mexico
So I'll ride like the wind
Ride like the wind
And I've got such a long way to go
To make it to the border of Mexico
So I'll ride like the wind
Ride like the wind

***She's Like the Wind: Patrick Swayze***
She's like the wind
Through my trees
She rides the night
Next to me
She leads me through moonlight
Only to burn me with the sun
She's taken my heart
She doesnt know what she's done
To feel her breath on my face
Her body close to me
Cant look in her eyes
She's out of my league
Just a fool to believe
I'm anything she needs
She's like the wind
I look in the mirror
And all I see
Is a young older man
With only a dream
Am I just fooling myself
That she'll stop the pain?
Living without her
I'd go insane!
To feel her breath on my face
Her body close to me
Can't look in her eyes
She's out of my league
Just a fool to believe
I am anything she needs
She's like the wind
To feel your breath on my face
Your body close to me
Can't look in your eyes
You're out of my league
Just a fool to believe
She's like the wind
Just a fool to believe
She's like the wind
Just a fool to believe
She's like the wind
Just a fool to believe
She's like the wind

***Chilly Winds: John Stewart***
I'm goin' where them chilly winds don't blow.
Gonna find a true love. That is where I want to go.
Out where them chilly winds don't blow.
Sing your song, sing it soft and low.
Sing it for your baby and then I'll have to go.
Out where them chilly winds don't blow
Wish I was a headlight on a west bound train.
I'd shine my light on cool Colorado range
Out where them chilly winds don't blow.
If you're feelin' lonely, if you're feelin' low.
Remember that I loved you more than you will ever know.
Goin' where them chilly winds don't blow.
Chorus
I'm leavin' in the springtime, won't be back till fall.
If I can forget you, I might not come back at all.
Out where them chilly winds don't blow.

***Four Strong Winds: Gordon Weir***
Four strong winds that bolw lonely,
Seven seas that run high,
All those things that don't change copme what may.
But our good times are all gone
And I'm bound for movin' on.
I'll look for you if I'm ever back this way.
Think I'll go out to Alberta; weather's good there in the fall,
Got some friends that I can go to workin' for.
But I wish you'd change your mind if I asked you one more time,
But we've been through that a hundred times or more.
Refrain
If I get there 'fore the snow flies, and if things are lookin' good,
You can meet me if I send you down the fare.
But by then it would be winter, not too much for you to do,
And the wind sure blows cold way out there.

***Windsong: Sandy Stewart***
C'mon out of the dark...
Where you've kept your treasure heart too long
Spread your dreams out in the sun...
Keep the ones that keep you young
Anything more...
Is more than you will need
Anything less
And what would be left to believe?
Things are lost, things are found
In the wind...
When the trees are bending down
C'mon, let it breathe
Over you.. and over me
I come out of the ice
Thaw my faith,
And bet me life on it
Make an angel in the snow,
Muse that wishing makes it so
Too many times I walked this world sincere
Thinking that nothing, nothing, nothing would ease my fear...
But things are lost, things are found
In the wind...
When the towers are blowin' down
C'mon and let it breathe...
Over you, over me
Anything more...
And you might have overwhelmed me
Anything less...
And I might not have dared to believe
Some are lost, some are found
In the wind...
When the mountains are crumbling down
C'mon and let it breathe...
Some will leave, some will stay
In the wind...
When the stars spin away
C'mon let it breathe...
Over you, over me...

***Windsong: John Denver***
The wind is the whisper of our mother the earth
The wind is the hand of our father the sky
The wind watches over our struggles and pleasures
The wind is the goddess who first learned to fly
The wind is the bearer of bad and good tidings
The weaver of darkness, the bringer of dawn
The wind gives the rain, then builds us a rainbow
The wind is the singer when sang the first song
The wind is a twister of anger and warning
The wind brings the fragrance of freshly mown hay
The wind is a racer, a wild stallion running
The sweet taste of love on a slow summer’s day
The wind knows the songs of the cities and canyons
The thunder of mountains, the roar of the sea
The wind is the taker and giver of mornings
The wind is the symbol of all that is free
So welcome the wind and the wisdom she offers
Follow her summons when she calls again
In your heart and your spirit let the breezes surround you
Lift up your voice then and sing with the wind

***Tradewinds: John Denver***
Ridin’ on a tradewind
Fillin’ my sails with a soft and southerly breeze
Livin’ on the ocean blue
Dreaming’ of the islands
Rappin’ myself in the glow of a tropical moon
I never shiver when the sun goes down
All the Earth she sings to me
Every shallow, every tree
Surely my loves shining like the sea
I can make you happy
If I can I’ll take you away on a wave in my arms
Never leave you on the edge all alone
If you feel like dancin’
Rollin’ like the water across my sleepless night
Makin me a peaceful place
All my life to be with you
All I ever want to do
Knowing you are feeling that way too
Distant thunder, heavy seas
Rocky Mountain memories
Surely I was lost till I found thee
Ye Ye Ye

***Against the Wind: Bob Seger***
It seems like yesterday
                     But it was long ago
Janey was lovely, she was the queen of my
                     nights
There in the darkness with the radio
                     playlng low
And the secrets that we shared
                     The mountains that we moved
Caught like a wildfire out of control
Till there was nothing left to burn and
                     nothing left to prove
And I remember what she said to me
How she swore that it never would end
I remember how she held me oh so tight
                     Wish I didn't know now what I didn't know
                     then
                     Against the wind
We were runnin' against the wind
We were young and strong, we were
                     runnin'
                     against the wind
And the years rolled slowly past
                     And I found myself alone
Surrounded by strangers I thought were
                     my friends
I found myself further and further from
                     my home
And I guess I lost my way
There were oh so many roads
I was living to run and running to live
Never worried about paying or even how
                     much I owed
Moving eight miles a minute for months at
                     a time
Breaking all of the rules that would bend
I began to find myself searchin'
Searching for shelter again and again
                     Against the wind
A little something against the wind
I found myself seeking shelter against the
                     wind
Well those drifters days are past me now
I've got so much more to think about
                     Deadlines and commitments
What to leave in, what to leave out
                     Against the wind
I'm still runnin' against the wind
Well I'm older now and still
                     Against the wind

***When the Wind Blows: David Bowie***
So long Child I'm on my way
And after all is done
After all is done
Don't be down
It's all in the past
Though you may be afraid
So long child
It's awful dark
And I've never felt the sun
I dread to think of when
When the wind blows
When the wind blows
When the wind blows
When the wind blows
Life burns a savage moon
Angry and raw
Trusting the twisted word
You'll run run away
You'll take it all home
You'll spin a tall tale
But they won't believe you
No matter what you say
So long child
It's awful dark
And I've never felt the sun
I dread to think of when the wind blows
When the wind blows
When the wind blows
When the wind blows

***Wild is the Wind: Garth Brooks***
Johnny grew up
On the dark side of the law
Livin' in the shadow
Of the light he never saw
Rosie came 'round
In the way that true love does
Just when you're lookin' elsewhere
For the thing that never was
Wild as the wind
Wild as the wind is
Wild as the wind is love
Wild as the wind
Wild as the wind is
Wild as the wind is love
So they team up
And they traveled on thier way
Lookin' for forever
For every yesterday
She brings him hope
In the way that Angels do
Takin' him to heaven
In ways he never knew
Wild as the wind
Wild as the wind is
Wild as the wind is love
Wild as the wind
Wild as the wind is
Wild as the wind is love
Wild as the wind
Every so often
He gets a stray look in his eye
She knows how to hold him
Without ever askin' why
Wild as the wind
Wild as the wind is
Wild as the wind is love
Wild as the wind
Wild as the wind is
Wild as the wind is love
Wild as the wind
Wild as the wind is
Wild as the wind is love
Wild as the wind
Wild as the wind is
Wild as the wind is love

***Masten Down the Wind: Warren Zevon***
She tells him she
thinks she wants to be free;
he tells her
he doesn't understand.
She takes his hand
and tells him
nothing's workin' out the way they planned.
(Chorus):
She's so many women;
he can't find the one who was his friend.
He's hangin' on to half her heart
but he can't have the restless part,
so he tells her to hasten down the wind.
(Verse 2)
He agrees he thinks she needs to be free;
then she says she'd rather be with him.
But it's just a whim
by which she hopes to keep him out there on that limb.

***Blow Wind Blow: Eric Clapton***
When the sun rose this morning, I didn't have my baby by my side.
When the sun rose this morning, I didn't have my baby by my side.
I don't know where she was, I know she's out with some another guy.
Don't the sun look lonesome shading down behind the trees?
Don't the sun look lonesome shading down behind the trees?
But don't your house look lonesome when your baby's packed to leave.
Blow wind, blow wind, blow my baby back to me.
Blow wind, blow wind, blow my baby back to me.
Well you know if I don't soon find them, I will be in misery.
Goodbye baby, that is all I have left to say.
Goodbye baby, that is all I have left to say.
But you have lost your good thing, go ahead and have your own way.

***Inherit the Wind: Eddie Rabbitt***
Baby don't fall in love with me
I'll only bring you grief
Baby, don't set your heart on me
I'll only have to leave
* 'Cos the north wind flows through my veins
Like my dad there's a dream in my brain
In the morning I'll have to leave again
That's how it is when you inherit the wind
  Inherit the wind
Daddy, he was a travelling man
I hardly knew his face
Momma, she cried for him at night
He never stayed in one place
* Repeat
Oh I can't give you the love you need
I just won't be here that long
But if you still want me here tonight
I'll love you till the break of dawn
* Repeat
Inherit the wind, inherit the wind
***Blown by the Wind: Eric Stewart***
All along the shoreline
There are footprints by the sea
They head into the distance...
Then they lead right back to me
I made the break to freedom
Now I'm following the dream
You're never going to get here
If you hold the old routine
Now everything we possess
That fills our empty lives
Is only good for leaving far behind
We are blown by the wind
Just like clouds in the sky
We don't know where we're going,
Don't know why
We just ride with the wind
And we'll drive through the rain
We don't where we'll get to
Or if we'll get back again
Call along the valley
And you just may find us there
I couldn't say for certain
Cause we may be anywhere
Head into the sunset
Or just wander out to sea
Wherever your heart leads you
Is the place you're meant to be
And someone who could be impressed
With ordinary lies
Could really use a little peace of mind
We are blown by the wind
Just like clouds in the sky
We don't know where we'll go,
But we'll get by
We just ride with the wind
And we'll drive through the rain
We don't where we'll get to
Or if we'll get back again
Now everything we possess
That fills our empty lives
Is only good for leaving far behind
We are blown by the wind
Just like clouds in the sky
We don't know where we're going,
Don't know why
We just ride with the wind
And we'll drive through the rain
We don't where we'll get to
Or if we'll get back again

***Wild is the Wind: Jon Bon Jovi***
I tried to make you happy
You know I tried so hard to be
What you hoped that I would be
I gave you what wanted
God couldn't give you what you need
You wanted more from me
Than I could ever be
You wanted heart and soul
But you didn't know, baby
Wild, wild is the wind
That takes me away from you
Cold is the night without your love
To see me through
Wild, wild is the wind
That blows through my heart
Wild is the wind,
Wild is the wind
You got to understand, baby
Wild is the wind
You need someone to hold you
Somebody to be there night and day
Someone to kiss your fears away
I just went on pretending
Too weak, too proud, too tough to say
I couldn't be the one
To make your dreams come true
That's why I had to run
Though I needed you, baby
Wild, wild is the wind
That takes me away from you
Cold is the night without your love
To see me through, baby
Wild, wild is the wind
That blows through my heart tonight
That tears us apart
Wild is the wind,
Wild is the wind
You got to understand, baby
Wild is the wind
Solo
Maybe a better man
Would live and die for you
Baby, a better man would
Never say goodbye to you
Wild, wild is the wind
That takes me away from you
Cold is the night without your love
To see me through, baby
Wild, wild is the wind
That blows through my heart tonight
That tears us apart
Wild is the wind,
Wild is the wind
You got to understand, baby
Wild is the wind

***Black Throated Wind: Grateful Dead***
You're bringing me down, I'm running aground,
Blind in the lights of the interstate cars,
Passing me by, the busses and the semis,
Plugging like stones from a slingshot from mars.
But I'm here on the road, bound to the load,
That I picked up in ten thousand cafes and bars.
Alone with the rush of the drivers that won't pick me up,
The highway, the moon, and clouds and the stars.
Black throated wind, keeps on pourin' in,
With it's words of a life where nothing is new,
Ah, mother american night, I pass from the light,
Ah, I'm drownin' in you.
I left St. Louie, city of blues,
In the midst of a storm I'd rather forget.
I tried to pretend it came to an end,
Cause you weren't the women I once thought I'd met.
But I can't deny, times have gone by,
Well I never had doubts or thoughts of regret,
And I was a man when all this began,
Who wouldn't think twice about being there yet.
Black throated wind, whisper in sin,
And speaking on life that passes like dew.
It's forced me to see you've done better by me,
Better by me that I've done by you.
Now what's to be found by racing around,
you carry your pain wherever you go,
Full of blues, and tryin' to lose,
You ain't gonna learn what you don't wanna know.
So I give you my eyes and all of their lies,
Please help them to learn as well as to see.
Capture a glance, and make it dance,
But looking at you is looking at me.
Black throated wind, keeps on pourin' in,
With it's words of a life that could almost be true,
Ah, mother American night, here comes a light.
I'm turning around, that's what I'm gonna do.
Going back home that's what I'm gonna do.
I'm turning around, that's what I'm gonna do.
Going back home that's what I'm gonna do.
Cause you've done better by me than I've done by you,
I'm drowning in you.

***The Wind and the Rain: Bruce Springstein***
The wind and rain slashing at my window pane
Lightning's flashing, looks like the sky's gone insane
And it seems like you have lied again
And now I'm left with the wind and the rain
Oh, shattered truth, jagged memories heal
You know it's hard them dreams that just can't come true
How long's it been since I've known you
Now the wind and rain is my only truth
Summertime, summertime remembers when you were mine
And now that's left so far behind
Can't you see what you've done to my mind
Now the wind and the rain's forever mine
Hey, yeah, yeah, ain't time shoring it up
Oh, the year's have made me far too tough
And when I started to go, I got rough
Now the wind and the rain is my only love
I said the wind and the rain is my only love
You know the wind and the rain is my only love
Wintertime
memories when you were mine
Oh, let them shine
Golden moments lost in time
Now I hear the grandfather's chime
The wind and rain's forever mine
The wind and the rain slashing at my window pane
Seems like you have lied again
But now I guess that it's just the same
And I am left with the wind and the rain
Hasn't time shown you enough
The years have made me far too tough
But you know where I stood when the going got rough
The wind and the rain is my only love
The wind and the rain is all I love
The wind and the rain is all I love
The wind and the rain is all I love
The wind and the rain is all I love
