Very highly recommended!

THE PRINCE OF THE WIND by Charlotte Boyett-Compo is a breathtaking saga of love, danger, and the paranormal. Use caution in beginning this tale, however, for its memory will haunt one's dreams with its extraordinary powerful telling. Fans of Boyett-Compo's work who have previously fallen under the mesmerizing spell of the Cree and McGregor men will delight in this further telling of their history.

In a world much like our own before computers, cars, and the technological wonders we take for granted, a youth has been kidnapped, and his strapping beauty and freshness of youth draws a haggard, aging woman whose soul's ugliness is matched only by her physical appearance. Riain Cree is the prince of Chalea, and she is the Princess of the Northwinds. Riain had been ill-treated and fallen ill with Layrinthian Fever, and must now rely upon the ministrations of Suzanne during his recovery. Riain's treatment in the hands of the kidnappers and by his own Master-at-Arms is a political fiasco in the making, believes Suzanne's father, even before his daughter works her evil deed. And Suzanne determines to make Riain hers, no matter the cost.

Christina Cree alone knows the danger that Suzanna poses to her son. A Daughter of the Multitude, she has gifts of knowing and in other times would have been called a witch. A woman of immeasurable strength, the knowledge of Suzanne's plans for her son leaves her shivering with fear. Deep in the vast arid wasteland called the Shadowlands, Christina travels to the Oracle to plead for her son's safety. But the results are not what she envisioned, even when takes events into her own hands.

Once again fans of the master of the fantastic and fantasy will find their appetites fully satisfied by the extraordinarily fantastic novel PRINCE OF THE WINDS. Boyett-Compo's fantastic world breathes a freshness and originality because she dares the impossible, thrusting her hero into a world of abuse and rape, and creating an insane protagonist capable of incredible evil. The haunting richness and vividness of the tale, however, may walk in the reader's own dreams, so use caution when reading one's self to sleep. For if sleep does come, it will be rife with danger and deviltry.

Very strongly recommended!

Charlotte Boyett-Compo is a wonderful storyteller. The Prince of the Wind was so dark at times that I felt poor Riain's quest must be futile, and I yet I kept reading - because I had to. I had moved in and taken up residence in Ms. Boyett-Compo's fantasy world, and I had no choice but to read on, because I had to know what happened. I was driven.

The Prince of the Wind is a wonderful contemporary fantasy, with elements that are reminiscent of both classic fantasy and classic horror - The Hobbit meets Dracula, and the two genres are merged with an expertise that few can achieve. Ms. Boyett-Compo is a master of dark fantasy, and I strongly recommend this book!

A Mystery Fanatic

Charlotte Boyett-Compo entwines this story with her previous novel NightWind; creating a story that cannot be put down, with explicit details and language of the era, full of mysticism, romance, and fiery characters - shapeshifters, witches, and a Reaper. Love versus evil. Who will win?

4 Stars and Titilating!

I found this was a book that I couldn't put down until the last page. Riain is such a strong character who finds himself facing events that in all reality he has little control over, but he doesn't give in. This is definitely a story for anyone who enjoys a battle between good and evil and the battle for a love that is everlasting, with some magic and sorcery along the way.

Rating: 5 Roses and Tangy!

Here's another winner for Charlotte. The story line moves smoothly from one scene to another, one time to another. There are so many entities with so many abilities and Charlotte somehow manages to bring them all to life. There's plenty of violence and sex involved but the way Charlotte handles it is exceptional. You'll have to read it to find out what I mean. This one has something for every Time Travel and Paranormal Romance reader, -- witches, werewolves, demons, and yes, even vampires. In my opinion, no TT or PN reader could be dissappointed with this book and the romance reader will love it.

Sensual Romance Reviews

This story of Riain's adventures in different worlds, with different potions and poisons that he is given, his body changes and the people he meets, is certainly one that keeps the reader wanting for more. There is a series of Wind Legend books and each one will be extremely interesting to read. For a fiction novel, this is one of my favorites and my hat is off to the imagination of the author.

ETERNAL NIGHT

Score: 8 out of 10

This is yet another superb example of Charlotte Boyett-Compo's writing. From the very beginning this story entrances the reader and draws them into a complex, detailed world full of political wrangling and emotional turmoil. The story is set in the same world as the "WingLegends" series although during a different period.

Having read a large number of fantasy stores written by a wide variety of authors I began to wonder if any author was capable of writing a decent prologue. Time after time I found myself reading prologues and hoping that the main story would improve - luckily, in most cases it did! Charlotte Boyett-Compo is an exception to this rule. From word one, Prince of the Wind a beautifully written and enthralling. The prologue correctly acts as a "teaser", inviting the reader to venture further into the novel to find out just what happened next.

Unlike many fantasy stories, Boyett-Compo's stories are far from predictable. She does not guarantee that the hero and heroine will stroll off, hand-in-hand, into the sunset. People die. People lose everything. The bad guy doesn't wear a black hat and this is why I have become such a fan of her work. As I have said before, I have a rather short list of authors who get me excited when I have a new book to read. Charlee is most definitely on this list.

The story weaves in and out with fragments of the paranormal, mysticism, time travel, witches, werewolves, vampires, and romance. Prince of The Wind is a tale of obsessive lust and undying love. What force will win?

A good read, especially for those who like a tale that makes the hair stand up on the back of their necks. This one may just give you a few nightmares!

This story just pulled me in. The dark paranormal with a touch of love and a twist of madness. Ms. Boyett-Compo sure knows how to keep you guessing with all the many twists and plots. Her characters seam to come to life in a way that make you feel just like you are there. Her character Riain was a strong, caring man, even though he was cursed. My heart just went out to him. This is one story I just had to have.

A nightmare of living, Riain successfully finds peace, love and harmony in Boyett-Compo's masterful pen. Racing through centuries and finding himself in a new modern world, his future looks bleak as his nemesis tracks his footsteps. PRINCE OF THE WIND is indeed another work that has to be read. Fantasy readers will gain immense pleasure from the deeply vivid complex PRINCE OF THE WIND. The hero struggles with overcoming his illness and evil to do the right thing. Suzanna is quite the character spinning a dark web throughout the taut story line so that the audience receives a terse thriller inside a fantasy realm. Charlotte Boyett-Compo shows her tale spinning abilities to paint a unique world with this fresh but darker than usual (at least from this wonderful author) epic fantasy that will send readers to the four corners seeking the tremendous "Wind" novels.

Scribe's World

4.5 Stars

If you haven't read one of Ms. Compi's WindLegend books, PRINCE OF THE WIND is a good place to start. Like all the books in this series, it's set in Charotte's rich fantasy world, featuring the Cree family, the ongoing battle between the evil Brotherhood of the Dominion and the Daughters of the Multitude, as well as the WindWarriors and Reapers.

Each tale reveals more and more about these different sects, as well as gives more detailed knowledge of her Reaper characters which are a cross between werewolves and vampires. Her heroes are always the tortured variety, her heroines always with agendas of their own, and the Domination is always an evil they have to contend with.

Whenever I get a WindLegend book, it's pushed to the top of my TBR pile and I can't put it down until I'm finished-usually after 3AM. Intriguing characters, truly evil villains, and a fascinating world&what more can you ask for?

Charlotte Boyett-Compo weaves together a magical tale of a dark time, where a man can be cursed and fall into the deepest darkest pit of despair. The settings, descriptions, and characters are vivid and compelling. I found myself wanting to read more chapters with Riain Cree in them. He was magical. The plot unfolds brilliantly with lots of surprising twists, and Riain goes through many transformations both emotionally and physically. Charlotte Boyett-Compo's writing style flows nicely and draws you deeper into the story. This is a great addition to anyone's fantasy collection. I enjoyed it!

3 hearts: A good read, an author to watch out for.

A delightful story that somehow seems less dark than Ms. Boyett-Compo’s other novels. Perhaps because of the ending which I won’t relay here but if you read it you will see what I mean.

The different peoples of the world created here are clearly defined and you can begin to see where the inspiration has come from for many of the races portrayed. This world is one that you will want to return to again and again.

This story covers all realms of paranormal known to legend. There are vampires, werewolves, djinn and sorcerers of all types. The Windwarriors, Windweavers and Nightwings are all creatures of fantasy. There are several strong characters with more than one story line. There is another young man that Suzanna seeks to possess. His name is Raven McGregor, and you’ll find out his part in the scheme of things. Charlotte Boyett-Compo is one of the best paranormal writers in her field. This is a very involved story so you have to pay close attention to the story. Ms. Boyett-Compo wrote this in three parts to make it easier to follow all the elements in her book. Her next book, BlackWind is the continuation of Riain’s line and on my list of must read books. And there is a surprise in this story that isn’t revealed until the end of the book. Maybe you will guess Maeve’s secret and how it relates to Riain’s happiness.

Prince of the Wind is a well-developed and detailed epic. The story is well written and rife with meticulous descriptions that grab the reader's attention immediately. Charlotte Boyett-Compo has gone to great lengths to provide diverse characters and fantasy elements that enhance and keep the story moving quickly. The imagery evoked at the author's descriptions of demons and otherworldly beings is exceptional. Riain and Maeve were especially enjoyable characters. They each displayed a wealth of emotions that was compelling. Riain's struggle and determination to defeat all those that stand in his way, kept this reader turning pages until the very end. A definite must read when you have a few hours to spare for a good fantasy read filled with drama, love, and hate.

5 Slippers

No one does a tormented hero like Charlotte Boyett-Compo.

Charlotte Boyett-Compo weaves in everything: madness, sacrifice, witches, demons, time-travel, “magik,” vampires, wolves, shapeshifters, demonology and more. Her heroes always end up mired deeper and deeper in situations that would be impossible to escape, but they never capitulate even against impossible odds. Campo really knows how to jerk the emotional chain; she has written another fascinating journey set in her macabre mythos, of a life, of loves and a battle between good and evil.

He is hard when he needs to be but gentle and kind to all that deserve it. ROMANCE REVIEWS TODAY

With many characters, a twisted plot, many changes of country, changes in epoch, multiple gods, and many titles involving wind, PRINCE OF THE WIND takes careful reading, but it is riveting. What carries you along is Riain's love for Maeve, her love of him, and her search for a solution to Riain's condemnation to the Abyss for sins of an ancestor. Riain is a compelling character, a victim who never seems to overcome that state, but also a person of strong moral character. In PRINCE OF THE WIND, the characters face overwhelming odds against gods who are either totally evil or test their chosen instruments with unending torment, but author Charlotte Boyett-Compo brings all to an unusual and satisfying conclusion.

Charlotte Boyett-Compo does indeed know the tales and the landscape of beloved Ireland. One can feel the mist, the touch, and the cold of that place, as well as the magic that linger from the past. THE ROMANCE STUDIO

Prince of the Wind is an exciting adventure into the dark world of the NightWind. Readers that are familiar with the stories by Charlotte Boyett-Compo will learn more about the history of the reaper. Emotionally stirring, this story tells a tale of the lust and obsession of one insane woman and how she manipulates the people around her, leaving a world of darkness and despair. Graphically explicit there are scenes of mad passion that are almost disturbing in their intensity. This is a world of good versus evil and happiness comes with a price, where it is not always easy to tell who is on the side of good. Prince of the Wind will carry the reader on an exciting adventure into the world of the future as Riain Cree tries to avoid becoming trapped by evil and despair. Readers will once again be thrilled by this wonderfully imaginative story by Charlotte Boyett-Compo. I truly enjoyed Prince of the Wind and can hardly wait for the next adventure into the world of the NightWind.

FALLEN ANGEL REVIEWS (another view)

Charlotte Boyett-Compo can write some out of this world fantasy tales. And with Prince of the Wind, this is no exception. There are a multitude of characters from witches, demons, lords and ladies who have their own voice and make for an interesting read. Suzanna is the vilest of creatures that will make your skin crawl from the moment she appears on the page. Riain is shown as an innocent youth who transforms into a man full of despair and depression because of this witch woman and her evilness. Fans of fantasy, adventure and of course romance will not want to miss Prince of the Wind.

MYSTIQUE BOOK REVIEWS

As a rule I prefer big sweeping romantic adventures that will make me smile and give me a happy ending. Often I find that writers who try to create serious work or indulge in darker themes have a harder time keeping my interest. All of the works I have read by Charlotte Boyett-Compo are the exception to that rule. I loved this book. Charlotte takes many risks as a writer that give her books a realistic quality with strong characterization and solid world building. Focusing on the heroes story, having a female villain that makes your skin crawl and giving some new twists to classic creatures that litter the pages of paranormal and horror books are just a few examples of how she takes risks to make excellent fiction that stays with you.

Be advised, this is not your mothers romance. There are untraditional dark elements here. I cried, laughed, cringed and blushed my way through Prince of the Wind in one sitting. This was exceptional.

PARANORMAL ROMANCE (another look)

Charlotte Boyett-Compo has done it once again with PRINCE OF THE WINDS. In this prequel to the WINDLEGENDS SAGA, we learn even more about the Reapers and how they came to be. We are also introduced to a multitude of different creatures, from Molongs to the Gatherer of Souls. We suffer along with Riain as he endures agony for no other reason than having captured the eye of an insane woman and the lengths she will go to to gain her revenge. This story has a bit of everything, from werewolves and vampires to time travel. I still haven’t figured out why Charlotte’s stories are so compelling, but they definitely are and this one is no exception to that.
