FALLEN ANGEL REVIEWS

Aeral Chiarn Dorrin, the Storm Lord, has been alone without a bride and cursed by the gods for untold ages. He watches over the village of Currym to keep it from harm, but when his vigilance slips, villagers begin to die of a plague set upon them by Aeral’s brother and greatest enemy, the Sea Lord. Desperate to end the sickness, the villagers hold a lottery to see which village maiden will be offered as a bride to the Storm Lord. The winner of the lottery will disappear into the lord’s fortress never to be seen again.

Past brides have chosen death over a life with the Storm Lord, but Aideyn is made of sterner stuff and is determined to make the best of her misfortune. She arrives at the keep expecting to meet a monster. Instead she finds a very handsome but very lonely man – a man looking for love and companionship, who she grows to love in a very short while; a man who is more than willing to return her love multifold. Although these two have found serendipitous love, there are forces afoot that would pull them apart and even destroy them if possible. These forces don’t expect to have to deal with the fierce dedication of a beloved wife, however, and Aideyn has no intentions of giving up without a fight.

Charlotte Boyett-Compo’s Kiss of the Wind is a delightful tale of love, hate, and sibling rivalry among the gods. From the opening scene, this story comes to life for the reader. It is smoothly plotted, vividly descriptive, and is populated with fascinating and colorful characters that the reader will fall in love with immediately. Aideyn is almost too good and too sweet to be true, but underneath this sticky-sweet exterior beats a brave and protective heart. Aeral is a man to fall in love with who has perhaps made a few mistakes in the past. But who doesn’t make mistakes? His love for Aideyn more than makes up for any past misdemeanors. The gods begin as fearsome but soon an underlying humanity is revealed along with a dash of humor.

To reinforce the almost mythical environment of the story, Ms. Boyett-Compo has made Manx Gaelic the language spoken by the characters. The use of so many words from a foreign language is a little difficult to process at first, but the fact that it is a real language – albeit a dead one – lends credence that a made-up vocabulary would not. In my opinion, this is a wonderful touch of reality. Kiss of the Wind starts out somewhat grim, but as love enters into the equation, the story lightens and even includes a measure of humor. The contrast between this lightness and the storm that is brewing with Aeral’s enemies makes for a very interesting element. With this great compilation of these components – arresting storyline, vivid characterization, and mythic but somehow realistic environment –Kiss of the Wind is a truly outstanding read.

LITERARY NYMPHS REVIEWS

Charlotte Boyett-Compo has written a story filled with passion and discovery in Kiss of the Wind. The characters, from the gods to the mortals, have a real feeling and draw you into the story. Aideyn has a giving spirit that creates joy wherever she goes. There is one scene where she interacts with one who has never known a caring hand and that cemented her as one of my favorite characters. This is a story you don’t want to miss. Wonderfully detailed in the scenery, fantastic characters, moments of wit, loving honey-coated erotic encounters and messages in trust and forgiveness are all included in Kiss of the Wind. This is one story you don’t want to miss.

WILD ON BOOKS REVIEWS

In this surprisingly sweet Beauty and the Beast tale, Charlotte Boyett-Campo introduces us to the Storm Lord Aeral and the beauty, Aideyn Bennett. This story is related to her popular Reapers series, through common characters, but is a stand alone story.

I didn’t rate KISS OF THE WIND a perfect 5 Bookmarks, because I found it difficult to follow the interactions between all the Gods. Who knew there were so many of them waiting in the wings?

That said, I liked Aideyn Bennett better than almost all the heroines I’ve read about recently. Any woman who can smile sweetly and bring immortal Gods to their knees is my kind of girl!

BITTEN BY BOOKS REVIEWS

I truly enjoyed Kiss of the Wind. Charlotte Boyett-Compo excelled at bringing across the emotions of her characters. The loneliness of Aeral tugged at my heart. The desire and erotically written scenes made this a hot read. The familiar strife of family disputes made it easier to relate to the Gods. All in all, it was a wonderful book. I am glad to have found this tale enriched with love, lust, and trouble! I am going to have to look into more of Ms. Boyett-Compo’s books!

JUST EROTIC ROMANCE REVIEWS

3-4 Stars out of 5

This wasn't one of Ms. Boyett-Compo’s best, although it does have all the rich characters, story lines and traditional romance aspects that fans have come to expect from the author. Nonetheless, the story's sluggish pace and long wait for the hero's name made this a difficult read. It is, however, an interesting twist on Celtic mythical figures and what felt like the classic Beauty and the Beast Faerie tale. Llyr is so gentle and caring, yet at the same time in so much pain. I couldn't help but want to comfort him as I read. Aideyn plays a perfect counterpoint of strength and determination. I think this is what makes them a truly exceptional couple. However it was Coni that stole every scene. Readers will find him to be the sarcastic, unknowingly sexy, bad boy whom they have no choice but to love. Like many of her stories, Ms. Boyett-Compo’s intimate scenes are more suited to mainstream romances than the erotic romance genre. Kiss of the Wind is a story for those just looking for a great story revolving around myths and folklore.

NIGHT OWL ROMANCE

3.5 Hearts = An Excellent Read

The author has a gift for drawing pictures with words. I had no trouble envisioning the castle, lands and the people she described. Aeral’s lack of confidence and Aideyn’s pure heart made for an interesting pairing, and their relationship in the bedroom was steaming hot. The side story of Llyr and Cailleach was fun to learn about as well. Add in a Goddess on the side of right and this was a very satisfying trip into fairytale land.
