Charlotte Boyett-Compo

Sean and Bronwyn have loved one another since grammar school. Believing Sean isn't good enough for their child, Bronwyn's parents will do everything in their power to keep them apart, including spiriting Bronwyn off to a secluded convent in Ireland.

But Sean isn't entirely human. Born of an Earthly mother and implanted with an alien parasite that makes it possible for him to shape-shift into a wolf-like creature, the young man is far more than Bronwyn's parents counted on. Determined to be reunited with the woman he loves, Sean will do what is necessary to have her in his arms once again.

From the mists of time and space, another creature lies in wait, eager to steal Bronwyn from Sean. Danyon Hart is a NightWind, an immortal created to aid women in their times of despair. He has heard Bronwyn's lonely cries and has come from the far reaches of the megaverse to claim her.

Fighting to get back to one another, the lovers must strive against a brutal evil that is dogging their every footstep.

You really ache for Bronwyn and Sean. The Reapers, Nightwinds, and even the pitiful Bugul Noz are thrilling characters who help to lead you into this wonderful fantasy that Ms. Boyett-Compo has created. Fallen Angels Reviews Five Angels "WOW! It has been a while since a book has held me as utterly captivated as BlackWind managed to do. Charlotte Boyett-Compo has written an outstanding love story that time and time again has enormous obstacles for these lovers to overcome, but nevertheless their love withstands the test of time. The twists and turns in this story will leave readers astonished and the very plot itself is remarkable and simply amazing. There were moments while reading BlackWind that I felt that this story was so real; Charlotte Boyett-Compo doesn't just write her characters true to life, she brings them to life. The pain and sorrow that Sean and Bronnie experience together as well as separately brought tears to my eyes on numerous occasions. With Charlotte Boyett-Compo readers have no choice but to feel what she has written, her words are that powerful and that strong. I'm a fairly new reader of Charlotte Boyett-Compo and what I've read to date, I've never been disappointed. I don't have the words to describe how much I enjoyed this book and if I could I'd give it ten angels! Simply put BlackWind and Charlotte Boyett-Compo are absolutely brilliant!" - Jaymi

The Romance Studio Four Hearts "Blackwind by Charlotte Boyett-Compo is truly mystifying. She starts with an innocent childhood romance and weaves it into a tail of hideous experimentation with eerie results. From monsters of the bog, Viraiden Cree from a planet called Rysalia, and the revenant queen, Ms Boyett-Compo once again proves that she has a uniquely creative imagination. If I wrote my review to reveal all the wonders of the book, that in itself could win an award. For the sake of brevity, I'll just say that Blackwind will not disappoint you if you enjoy a thrilling journey of lore, legends and love." - Brett Scott

About Charlotte Boyett-Compo

Charlee is the author of over forty books. Married 39 years to her high school sweetheart, Tom, she is the mother of two grown sons, Pete and Mike, and the proud grandmother of Preston Alexander and Victoria Ashley. She is the willing houseslave to five demanding felines who are holding her hostage in her home and only allowing her to leave in order to purchase food, clumping kitty litter, and toys for them. A native of Sarasota, Florida, she grew up in Colquitt and Albany, Georgia and now lives in the Midwest (that makes her an official Sunshine Cracker!). She writes erotica exclusively for Ellora's Cave but is also published in the speculative fiction genres of dark romance, mystery/thriller, SF/futuristic, and horror. If you are fans of her WindWorld and WindVerse series at Ellora's Cave…and especially her signature shapeshifting Reapers…you might want to check out her novels over at Cerridwen Press.

Question: Why does the word 'wind'-in one fashion or another-show up in the titles of all her novels?

Answer: Charlee was born on June 20th and that makes her a Gemini, an air sign, and she has a real affinity for the wind.

An Interview with Charlotte Boyett-Compo
By Holly Hewson Marketing Director for The Romance Studio

HH: Charlee, welcome back to TRS! It's been way too long. Tell us all about your release from Cerridwen Press, BlackWind: Sean and Bronwyn.

CBC: I am happy to be back, Holly. Thanks for asking me. BlackWind is the story of two young lovers who are torn apart by her parents who send the young woman to a nunnery in Ireland to get her away from her love. The young man is more than what her parents expect: he is a Reaper, a shapeshifting being who needs blood in order to thrive and he is brokenhearted when he loses her. But he isn't the only male who loves Bronwyn. Lurking in the shadows is a Nightwind, an incubus, who will do everything he can to take her away from Sean. The story goes from Albany, GA to Ireland to Kellogg, IA in the course of many years.

HH: This is the first half of a two book series. Can you give us a sneak peek at the other story?

CBC: Actually both books were released as a single title…BlackWind…by a previous publisher. Due to its size, CP is releasing it as two novels.

Here's the blurb for the second book: Bronwyn McGregor has known the depths of heartache. Having lost the man she's loved since childhood and the child their great love created, she has thrown herself into her work as a psychologist, determined to help those who cannot help themselves. The last thing on her mind is finding romance among the criminally insane at Baybridge Sanitarium.

From a seething cauldron of evil, Viraidan Cree was created in the frigid winds of space. Dredged up from a teeming bog in the wilds of Ireland where he has spent centuries of unlife, he is a Reaper, a warrior among warriors, a being so lethal, so dangerous he cannot be controlled. Yet lurking within the re-born warrior is the spirit of a dead man whose love has survived against all odds. Given the job to secure the safety of those who work at Baybridge, Cree takes one look at Bronwyn and vows to make her his own.

But the Nightwind Danyon Hart is listening to the Reaper's deep desires. He too has his sights set on Bronwyn and will allow no one to get in his way…especially not a Reaper!

It is a continuation of Bronwyn's love story with the man she has loved since childhood. It is a story of redemption and overwhelming passion and to what lengths two men will go to possess the woman of their heart. It is a paranormal and in combining two of my signature creations…a Reaper and a Nightwind…in the book, I also sneak the heroine from my novel, NightWind, in as a surprise appearence. I have a third book planned for this series.

HH: Cerridwen Press is one of the year's exciting new publishers. What can you tell us about your experience so far with this company?

CBC: CP is part of Ellora's Cave and just as my experience with EC, I can not say enough good things about my editor, Mary Moran, and the terrific people who keep the wheels of the company well-oiled: Patty, Tina, Raelene, Martha…they are all super professionals and I am honored to be a part of their publishing venture. I was blessed when my first book, Desire's Sirocco, was picked up by EC and now that CP has come along and I have five contracts with it, I am truly happy and excited. With each new contract, my life just gets better and better.

HH: What are you working on at the moment?

CBC: I am working on a full-length novel on spec. It's working title is Journey of the Wind and it is based on the six of swords tarot card. The book is writing itself and I'm havng a lot of fun with the hero and heroine, Alsandair and Rylee and the protagonist, Kyle.

HH: Charlee, you're nothing if not prolific. What wonderful stories do you have for readers in 2006?

CBC: Well, let's see: There's a new book coming out every month from January through July…so far…with BlackWind: Viraidan and Bronwyn in January from Cerridwen Press, WesternWind: Wyndriver Sinner in February from Ellora's Cave, In the Wind's Eye from CP in March, WesternWind: Reaper's Revenge in April from EC, Taken by the Wind in May from CP, HardWind in June from EC, and Desert Winds from CP in July. I am hoping there will be books released from August through December but you never know.

HH: Okay, on the personal side. What do you do when you aren't writing

CBC: I read and watch television. I never miss a new book by John Sanford, Dean Koontz, Christine Feehan, John Saul, Sherrilyn Kenyon, Robin Cook, Michael Connelly, Andrew Greeley, Jude Devereaux, Johanna Lindsey, and David Wiltse. I have all their books and my bookcases are groaning! I read a book a week, generally…usually when I'm eating or if there's nothing interesting on TV. I love Lost, Invasion, Nip/Tuck, Deadwood (and Rome when it was airing), Rescue Me, NCIS, Alias, Las Vegas, and E-Ring. If there's a good paranormal or SF movie on, I'm perched in my easy chair with a bag of tortilla chips, salsa, a Pepsi, and at least one of my five cats lounging on me. If there is a great movie showing with loads of cinematography…a wide, sweeping movie like War of the Worlds or Batman Returns…I'll go to our local theater and immerse myself in the fantasy. I'm really looking forward to the John Smith/Pocahontas movie coming out (doesn't hurt that gorgeous Irish hunk Colin Farrell is the star, lemme tell ya!).

HH: What hobbies or activities do you enjoy?

CBC: I play the piano, guitar, and autoharp so when I have time I'll do that for awhile. I love to cook and making stews and soups are my specialty. I don't do sports since I'm a devout couch potato but I do like to pretend I'm getting exercise when I wake up and stretch every morning. I crochet but since I had dual carpal tunnel releases about twelve years ago, it hurts to hold the hook for too long at a time. Listening to Celtic music is an activity I indulge in at least an hour every week so I can recharge my batteries.

HH: Did you make any New Year's resolutions?

CBC: I never bet on a sure thing and breaking New Year's resolutions is a sure thing in my house. If I were to make one, though, it would be to get my office cleaned up before I shuffle off this mortal coil. Most likely will never happen. I'll probably die before those papers get filed away.

HH: What are your goals for 2006?

CBC: To write twelve books for 2007. I have several already in pre-write with characters and storylines planned out. I don't do outlines unless I'm working on a book for spec and even then doing a synopsis is like pulling eye teeth. I HATE writing blurbs and tag lines for my books. If you ever wanted to torture me, make me write blurbs and tag lines all day. I'd be a raving lunatic before half the day was gone. I believe that is the main reason I'll never be able to entice a literary agent to represent me. I just plain can't do a decent query letter or synopsis. I really suck at it.

HH: Who is your muse?

CBC: His name is Sean. He's 6"5' with dark brown hair, brown eyes, chiseled pecs, washboard abs, brawny arms, lean hips, long tapered fingers and legs, a wide chest with lots of curly brown hair, and he's very well endowed. He sits or stands beside me wherever I go except the shower. I draw the line at him viewing my cellulite because I know he'd start harping about losing weight and all that boring health stuff. Since I don't have to cook or clean for him, he's the perfect man…ah, muse.

HH: Thank you!
