  • THE GLOSSARY

ABYSS That hellish place where all manner of Evil is whelped.
BALGAIR A roue Reaper who has been made by the Ceannus for evil purposes.
BREITHEAMHTÁI Judges for the Multitude. In this case, the Gatekeepers of the Citadel.
CONTAINMENT CELLS or CON CELLS Since Transition is a highly volatile state of being and therefore by its own state dangerous to humans and animal alike, a Reaper should be confined during Transition. A cell or otherwise strong building should be provided for his/her use. Traditionally, a containment cell is seven feet by seven feet in diameter; twenty feet in height; there are no windows. Embedded in the stainless steel wall are two horizontal iron beams upon which is welded a solid sheet of metal six feet long by four feet wide; this serves as a bed although it has no padding, no covers. In the northeast corner of the cell is a four-inch wide waste removal hole; in the southwest corner cell, is a showerhead set flush against the stainless steel ceiling. A wire-encased light is recessed into the center of the ceiling and the light is never extinguished but always set at a very low level since Reapers are highly photophobic during Transition. The walls are stainless steel and the ceiling and flooring are re-enforced concrete with titanium rebars.

GEAS Geas are magical obligations placed upon a Reaper either through subliminals resulting from neuroleptic drugs or from 'suggestions' placed upon him by either Morrigunia or Raphian.

Subliminals from Dr. Dearing Noah Jarl:

    (01. Inability to cross moving water
    (02. A Reaper may have only one physical mate in his/her lifetime with whom he/she may have intercourse
    (03. A Reaper can touch his offspring for fear of killing the rival male.

Geas placed upon Cainer Cree by Morrigunia (Each was designed to penalize him for rejecting Her advances.):

    (01. It became his obligation to pass on a fledgling from his body in order to aid those who seek him out.
    (02. She made it so he would only know one mate in his lifetime. When that mate dies or leaves him, he will never have another
    (03. The third Geas placed a ban on him taking his own life. She made it so the parasite inside would not allow him to be able to get out of his punishment.
    (04. She made it taboo for him to swim so he could never leave the island. To this day, it is a curse of the deargs duls that they BELIEVE they cannot swim nor can they cross running water. With that restriction in mind, they cannot so much as put a foot into running water because Morrigunia willed the parasite to fear it would drown if such should happen.
    (05. No female would ever spring from the staff of a deargs duls.

NOTE: The Geas placed by both Dr. Jarl and Morrigunia were proven not to be binding in the matter of both the running water and inability to touch their young.
GHORET Nothing in this world or on any other is as lethal as the three foot long silver and green viper. The bite of the ghoret takes mere seconds to kill a human victim and there is no antidote for the venomous bite. If you get the florescent blue venom on your flesh, it will make you ill to the point of death. Get it in your eyes or in your mouth and it will kill you. When a Reaper is bitten by this reptile he will convulse and scream as the poison invades his system and wars with the Revenant worm. The parasite will begin to produce a toxic venom of its own to combat the poisons trying to destroy the Reaper’s nervous system and major organs and as a result, the Reaper’s body temperature will soar and the blood will boil in his veins and the flesh on his arms and legs will shift and bunch as pockets of contaminants form under his skin and burst.
GREAT LADY, THE The powerful sorceress in corporeal form who rules the Multitude.
GUIRT Translated: the hatched. Reaper offspring conceived from Morrigunia's dream-induced 'rape' of an established Reaper. They are kept in a special part of the Megaverse--somewhere beyond time and space--called Guirrlan.
HELL-HOUND Also known as Mac Imshee. This is a unique species of Reaper who has canine characteristics instead of lupine. While hell-hound can Transition, he can not shapeshift to any other species so subsequently he can not fly a his lupine brethern can. They do have one advantage over the lupines in that--being a hound--they are not restricted to sex with only one female in their lifetime. They can have multiple partners but once they are bonded, the strain of wanting only one mate is very strong.
HELLION The Revanant Worm. Also known as fledgling, nestling, hellion, leech is an eel-like entity with green flesh covered in hard scales. At maturity, they are roughly two inches in length and are a smaller version of its mother.
HIGH COUNCIL The Ruling Body of the Citadel, presided over by the Shadowlords.
HIVE The hive of fledglings or nestlings (also called leeches) is a grayish-green honeycomb of wriggling bodies that are produced by the Queen without need for fertilization. The worm-like beings are in a sac that is attached to the Reaper’s kidney. Most are no larger than a man’s little fingernail.

The adult leech can store up to six months of Sustenance before it needs to be fed again. The pupae—its young in the cocoons—are in a non-feeding state of development so they have no need of nourishment until they hatch. Once they do, they attach themselves to the underside of the Queen until they can break free and live independently in the sac.

Fledglings are harvested once they reach maturity and stored for implantation into Reaper candidates.
    JOINING The act of marriage.
